We are here.  The final track on the album and the final look behind the scenes at the creative process that led to it happening.  You Are Here is released tomorrow, but today we are looking at the climactic 14 minute epic, Roll Up The World Pt 2.

We’re up to track 10 of our countdown to the release of You Are Here on 1st July and the title couldn’t be more appropriate. Time Is Running Out. A song that has had a longer life than Fine Soft Day. Time Is Running Out is a re-working of a song written by Martin many moons ago, called...er... Time Is Running Out. It will make sense when you read on, we promise.

With only a few days before the release of You Are Here, our behind the scenes look at the creative process reaches track 9, Rhyme.

As we covered earlier, this is the sister to track 2 on the album, Reason. In fact, we intended to title the tracks “Reason...” and “... And Rhyme” but when it got to saving file names with ... Mac said no and we quickly went off the idea.

We're up to track 8 of the album today and we've arrived at an instrumental track which was the last one to be added to the running list.  It's a track of two halves, which is appropriate as the two halves were written completely separately.

Grandfather.  The song we wrote twice.  It first appeared around about 1998, having been written by Mark, and was a regular feature of our live performances, but it was never recorded.  When we were in the early stages of putting together You Are Here, we realised that Grandfather would be a great fit for the concept.  The only trouble was, nobody could remember any of the lyrics for the verses.  So there was only one thing to do...

The second instrumental track on the album was the first track to be completed.  What started as something of a throwaway idea grew into quite a powerful piece.  It was a classic case of the sum being greater than the parts, which we didn't realise when we were recording it...

7 days to go before You Are Here is released and today we are looking behind the scenes at the creation of the fifth track on the album, Time Flows By.

Those of us who prefer music to be something tangible can rejoice at the news that Fine Soft Day's forthcoming album,  You Are Here, will be available on CD as well as on digital platforms.
